The first time I saw a picture of the We-Vibe II I wondered how it could possibly work. Not really able to visualize the dimensions, I thought it was much bigger. To me it seemed rather intimidating and looked hard to use so I dismissed it.
As its popularity grew, I started reading more about it and watching video reviews. When I saw how small and flexible it actually is, I realized I needed to try it, so I was thrilled when Good Vibrations sent me one to review. A fairly new and innovative sex toy, the We-Vibe II is unlike anything else I have tried.
Designed to be used by couples during sex, the unique flexible U-shaped design allows a woman to wear it during intercourse or use it for some hands-free dual stimulation solo play. Made from soft silicone, when unfolded the vibe measures 7 1/2 inches long.
There is a tear-drop shaped insertable end for G-spot stimulation connected by a 1/2 inch band to a more elliptical end for clitoral stimulation. Both are close to an inch wide and around 3/4 of an inch thick, they’re just shaped differently.
The surface is mostly smooth, except for some ridges along the inside of each end. The external tip has more subtle, shallow ridges, while the ones on the G-spot end are more pronounced, but on both sides the ridges are soft and pretty squishy. There is quite a bit of surface drag, so stick to only using water-based lube with it.
The We-Vibe II comes nicely packaged in a discreet, plain white paper box with silver lettering. The toy is visible through a clear plastic window. Inside the box is also a silky storage pouch, a small white box containing the charger cord, and detailed instructions in different languages.
No batteries are required since this is a rechargeable vibe, but before using it for the first time it has to charge for 24 hours. The cord attaches via a tiny hole at the very top of the clitoral end, near the single-button control.
To operate, simply press the button to turn the two motors on and toggle through the 9 vibration settings, or hold the button for a few seconds to turn the vibe off. There are 2 speeds of continuous vibration, and then some very interesting patterns: throb, wave, pulse, ramp, tease, ascend, and cha-cha.
I love all the different patterns, and the vibrations feel nice and rumbly, but I wish the button was a bit more user-friendly. It’s very small, and the soft material makes it tricky to press when in use.
The We-Vibe II is definitely a sex toy worth having for masturbation purposes or facilitating foreplay. With all the various vibration settings to play with, there are plenty of options to keep the user busy. However, I’ve experienced mixed results when wearing it during intercourse.
In certain positions, especially doggie-style, the vibe shifts around quite a bit. This is easily solved by holding it in place, but that means it’s not truly a hands-free toy.
In other positions, like woman astride and missionary, the vibe doesn’t move around quite as much, but for me the inserted end became uncomfortable once things really got going with some faster thrusting. This was disappointing, but I’m optimistic that I’ll get more used to it with time and practice.
Overall, I’m impressed with the We-Vibe II. It’s a high quality, discreet sex toy with plenty of power and vibration options. Plus, it’s couple friendly, rechargeable and very quiet.
